Are you gunning for that cushy creative director position? Whether you’re aiming for the agency C-suite or merely looking for that first job, a cutting-edge portfolio will be your ticket past the doorman. The AAA School of Advertising Johannesburg will be running a Copywriting Portfolio course starting on August 2nd 2010, and will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
“A strong portfolio is exceptionally important in the advertising and communications industry,” explains Ludi Koekemoer, Principal and Managing Director of the AAA School, “which is precisely why we are offering a course which focuses on building a flawless and attention catching body of work.”
The course will cover all the tools and mediums of effective advertising – from print and TV, outdoor (posters, billboards, bus shelters, public transport, etc), ambient to interactive (web writing, SEO, blogs, pop-ups and much more). Students will receive detailed guidance on how to execute the various tasks involved in creating a successful campaign - such as writing conceptual headlines, crafting taglines, and brainstorming for that big idea.
What makes this course special? Under the guidance of leading industry professionals, students will first compile a series of work that showcases the type of content that they’re capable of producing. In addition to creating a top quality portfolio, the course will also teach students how to produce ads that are both conceptually strong and well-written. Students will be presented with a series of creative briefs - just like one would receive at top agencies - and will be guided to produce creative solutions in the form of powerful ads. Some of the industry’s top art directors will be invited to critique students’ work and provide invaluable feedback on an individual level.
